Headspare

Headspare support

Setup takes about five minutes. If something shows no data, start with the troubleshooting list below.

Coming soon to Mac, iPhone and Android. Nothing is available to download yet. Join the waitlist and I will email you when the one you want is out. The steps below are for when it is.

What you need

You sign in on the Mac or on the iPhone, in Settings, Accounts. VibeProxy is optional and Mac-only: if you already run it, the Mac can read its accounts instead of or as well as your direct sign-ins. The Apple Watch never signs in and does not connect to VibeProxy. It reads what the Mac or iPhone saved to your iCloud. Android is meant to pair with the Mac and does not sign in. The relay that would carry sealed readings is not deployed yet, so that path is not live. Headspare is not affiliated with VibeProxy or with the AI providers.

Setup

  1. Install Headspare on your Mac and open it. It lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. The Mac app is not available to download yet. Join the waitlist.
  2. Sign in to your accounts. On the Mac or the iPhone, open Settings, Accounts, and choose Claude, Codex, Antigravity, xAI or GitHub Copilot. Claude and Antigravity open the provider’s sign-in page in your browser. Codex, xAI and GitHub Copilot show you a code. Enter the Codex code on auth.openai.com, the xAI code on x.ai, and the GitHub Copilot code on github.com. The sign-in tokens stay on the device you signed in on, in its keychain, and go only to that provider. The Apple Watch holds none.
  3. Optional: use VibeProxy. If you already run VibeProxy, Headspare can read its accounts instead of or as well as direct sign-ins. Headspare asks you to pick VibeProxy’s .cli-proxy-api folder, so macOS can give it read access. The folder is hidden. In the picker press Command Shift G, type ~/.cli-proxy-api and press Return. Headspare needs only the management.key and merged-config.yaml files in it.
  4. Wait for the first read. The menu bar shows your limits within a few seconds. Headspare then refreshes every 30 minutes, and you can refresh at any time with Refresh at the bottom of the panel, or Command R.
  5. Open Headspare on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Both read from iCloud when you open them. On iPhone you can also pull down to refresh. The iPhone can also sign in itself, in Settings, Accounts, and then it publishes its own readings. If nothing has been saved to iCloud yet, they show an empty screen.

Widgets and complications

iPhone Home Screen

Touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen, tap the plus button, search for Headspare and choose a size. Touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, and pick the accounts and limits it shows.

iPhone Lock Screen

Touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, tap Lock Screen, tap the widget area, and add the Headspare Quota widget (circular, rectangular or inline). Tap it to pick accounts and limits.

Mac

Control-click the desktop, choose Edit Widgets, search for Headspare and add a small, medium or large widget. Control-click the widget and choose Edit Widget to pick accounts and limits.

Apple Watch complications

On the Watch face, touch and hold, tap Edit, swipe to the complications and choose Headspare Quota. On the iPhone you can do the same in the Watch app under Faces. The Watch app also has one page for each account.

Names on screen

Account names show as “Claude 1”, “Claude 2” by default. On the Mac, open Settings, General, and turn off Hide Account Names to show emails. The setting syncs between the Mac, iPhone and Watch.

Troubleshooting

The Mac shows “Not updated yet” or no accounts

  1. Open Settings, Accounts, and check that each account is signed in. Sign in again if one is not.
  2. Choose Refresh at the bottom of the Headspare panel.
  3. If you use VibeProxy, open it and check that it is running and shows your accounts as connected.
  4. If the message says access to the folder expired or that the folder has no management.key, choose the .cli-proxy-api folder again. It must be the folder in your home folder, not a parent or a subfolder.

“VibeProxy is not running.”

This only applies if you use VibeProxy. Headspare could not connect to it on your Mac. Start VibeProxy from Applications, wait for its menu bar icon, and refresh. If you changed VibeProxy’s port in its configuration, make sure merged-config.yaml is still in the folder you chose.

“VibeProxy answered with HTTP …” or “The provider answered with HTTP …”

VibeProxy is running but refused the request, or the AI provider refused it. The first usually means the management key changed, so choose the folder again. The second usually means the account needs to be signed in again, in Settings, Accounts, or in VibeProxy for accounts that come from it. Other accounts keep working, and the failing account shows its problem on its own row.

“iCloud is not available.”

Sign in to iCloud on the device: Settings, your name. Then check that iCloud Drive is on, and that Headspare is allowed to use iCloud under Settings, your name, iCloud, Apps Using iCloud (Show All). The Mac, iPhone and Watch must use the same Apple Account.

The iPhone or Watch is empty

A device that holds your accounts has to run at least once and save to iCloud. That can be the Mac, or the iPhone after you sign in on it. Open Headspare there, wait for it to show your limits, then pull down on the iPhone screen to refresh. If it is still empty, check iCloud as above on both devices.
